Do snakes have a kind of "" while mating?

I once happened to read in the Encyclopaedia Britannica that, as they prepare to mate, snakes entwine, and the male caresses the female's cloaca (with his belly or something) so as to ually stimulate her, and it sounded rather original and unusual for an animal world to me... Strangely enough, I never found similar information while browsing other articles on snakes. What is your opinion?
