Is the great thing about Obama's Volt that you can't drive it on cold days or hot?

The Volt switches to a gas-burning generator to power its electric motor when the batteries are depleted, at which time it works just like a normal car. The maximum range allowable on the batteries is NOT the maximum range of the car.
