Is Dubai a fairly cheap place for a week trip?

I believe shopping has gotten very expensive here in Dubai. Everything seems to be cheaper in the US. I wouldn't count on anything being cheaper here. After paying for your hotel and airfare it's up to you how much you will spend. You don't have to spend a lot if you don't want to. The Crown is a nice hotel, but you have to take a taxi if you want to go to the beach. Taxi's aren't that expensive either.
