Had a hysterectomy 4/13 and wondering if this pain is normal?

I am a pediatric nurse and obviously no hysterectomy's are performed on our floor so I really dont know if the pain I am having post op is normal. It hurts bad, real bad to p gas and to have a BM, it feels like my intestines are at war with each other in there. I know they used the gas during surgery and the gas is normal but is the pain that comes along with it? Please share any of your post op hysterectomy recommendations with me.
